Ian M. Barney

Ian M. Barney is a founding partner of Barney Hammond Hourihane LLP and is licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Illinois. He has extensive experience representing individuals in high-value cases, notably wrongful death and wrongful convictions. He has participated in many cases of note, was previously named a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers Magazine six years in a row, and has been named to the prestigious Super Lawyers list by Super Lawyers Magazine, a distinction given to no more than 5% of attorneys in Illinois.
A lifelong Chicagoan, Ian attended Loyola University Chicago for his undergraduate degree where he also played on Loyola's basketball team.
Ian was admitted to practice law after graduating with honors from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. While at Loyola, he was awarded the President's Medallion – the school's highest honor – as well as the Illinois State Bar Association's Public Service Award. Ian also published feature articles for the Public Interest Law Reporter and finished first place in a national moot court competition, beating out competitors from many prestigious schools, including Ivy League institutions and Georgetown University. Ian also coached his former moot court team in Loyola's Appellate Advocacy Honors Program.
